Haverfield Cookout
Monday, Oct. 1, my friends and I attended the Haverfield cookout in the courtyard of Haverfield. There were delicious foods and drinks, and a vast amount of people. The event planners were caring enough to offer a vegetarian burger, and there were also hot dogs and hamburgers for us carnivores. There was a variety of chips, fruit, macaroni and potato salad, and cookies and popsicles for dessert. There was water offered, as well as a selection of coke products. After getting our food, my friends and I sat on the grassy area to commence with our meal. During the course of the evening, there were people playing catch, or other games, and people just sitting around talking. Since this event was open to all of Haverfield, and not just the Humanities scholars, I was able to meet new people. There were a few people who were making their way around groups in order to talk to a variety of people. So it was a good opportunity to meet people who live in the same building, but I may never see. At the end of the evening, Ben was offering left over food to people, because there were extra side dishes. My friends and I also helped Ben fold up the tent that was covering the grill, which was an experience in itself. All in all, it was a fun, relaxing evening.

It is true, this was a fun event. I'm sad that I had to leave early for class, but for the time that I was there, just chilling with friends was relaxing and meeting new people was great!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun event and I got the chance to meet a lot of new people and people I already knew. I am glad that the weather held out until later and that we got to hang out on the "lawn" of Haverfield for a while!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad I was able to go to this, if only for a little while. There was a great turnout of people and the food was delicious! I enjoyed the short amount of time hanging out with friends....but I had to run off to my evening class shortly after dinner started so I missed a lot of the other socializing. Sadly.
ReplyDeleteI also attended this event, and it was great! Free food is always a huge plus when you're a college student, so it was extra awesome. I loved seeing my friends from the dorm who aren't necessarily Humanities scholars combine together for one event.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the first time around the cookout unfortunately had to be post-poned it was great when it finally happened. I like the fact that Humanities extened the invitation out beyond just our scholars program. I think we should collaborate with other Scholars programs for more upcoming social events! P.S.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Michelle as well about the niceness that you leaders provided for us by offering other choices at the cookout such as the veggie burgers! They were awesome!!
I agree. The cookout was a very fun event, and I loved having the time to hang out with my friends in the dorm who were not Humanities Scholars and take a break from homework.
ReplyDeleteThe cookout was a great event. On campus, we don't have as many opportunities for things like cookouts and it was a great way to get us all together. Cookouts are one of things I miss most about home, so this event was especially fun to me. It was also nice to get out of the dorm for awhile and have something besides campus food.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the cookout too! I agree, I really miss cookouts from home. But I really enjoyed something that wasn't campus food-you can only eat so much no-co :/ Haha.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great event. It had an amazing feel to it and was a good close to summer and beginning to fall. It was also very nice to not have to eat campus food for a night.
ReplyDeleteThe Hav cookout was fun. It was nice mingling with not only Humanities Scholars but also PSL. I enjoyed the relaxed and close! activity. Also, I will always love any event that incorporates food!
ReplyDeleteThe Haverfield cookout was utterly spectacular! The food was delectable and the weather was ideal. Additionally, I was fortunate enough to meet the ever-legendary Tom Heffelfinger!!! (still in awe)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the Haverfield cookout. I went with some friends, ate some delicious food, and had a great time. I hope that we have another cookout in the Spring!!!
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of fun and met some new people at the cookout. Unfortunately I was unable to stay long at this event, I heard someone had a frisbee!
ReplyDeleteThe Haverfield cookout was quite the treat! I met some great new people and ate some yummy burgers. Making a guest appearance was the backup long snapper from the football team, who my roommates and I quickly bonded and formed a firm friendship with. Free food attracts all kinds of folk!
ReplyDeleteThe Haverfield was a great time. I once again got to meet more people in haverfield and this time i got to know even more people than just the humanities scholars. I remeber there being a chance of rain that day but it turned out to be great day for the cookout without a cloud in the sky.
ReplyDeleteThe Haverfield Cookout offered a pleasant break from University dining while also giving me a chance to eat with some people that I hadn't talked to before. It was a great experience and I would suggest doing it again next fall!
ReplyDeleteI went to the Haverfield Cookout with my Humanities friends and also with my friends from the dorm. It was a fun event with a variety of food. I'm glad it offered options for my vegetarian roommate. The grilling was superb and the people were very friendly.
